For the people watching from the outside, krump looks like a dance full of rage and violence, but it’s not what it looks like, right?
No, it just takes a lot of power and energy, so I don’t think you can make a pretty face and smile all the time while you’re using all your strength. But it just looks unfamiliar, hip-hop is more smiles and good times. We have fun too, it just takes all of our might, our strength. But it’s not an angry dance.

For you, why the most important stand-up battles do not include krump?
I don’t think people respect it enough yet, but that’s why we are doing our work right now, to make sure it’s put on the same stage of the other dance styles. A lot of people don’t understand it, so we have to make people understand now.

How does the chain of command work for the different families?
I’m Tight Eyez, I’m big Tight Eyez. Junior, little Tight Eyez is Baby Tight Eyez. It is not a difference of level, nobody is more important than another person, it is just my Junior is the closest to the Tight Eyez styles, they all share different sides and different things about the style. It’s like the big brother and the little brothers under him, like a real family, ‘cause we have no families.

How do you decide when somebody is worth to became a family member? Become – In the Eyez family, for example..
It’s about the person, the heart and the character, not necessarily about the skills. Because you can improve your skills, it isn’t the same for any person, and how do you feel about that person.

There is a big bondage between your dance and God, can you explain it?
Since I’ve created it with Mijo, dance is more than just dance to me, it’s how I live my life, it’s how I start to have a confidence. It’s how I make my career and how I make a living, so when I dance it comes from a spiritual place. I’ve been through a lot of things, and no explanations got me through those things but God, so I kind of gave the dance to Him, my dance. ‘Cause I feel he’s responsible for what happens in this World.

So I feel like I have to help people that were like me, so I went crazy just going everywhere and trying to show the more I could to everybody and spread it with love and passion, the heart, and to not hide anything to anybody. They can see everything of my life, ‘cause that’s where my Krump comes from.

When I had time I used to train 6 hours a day, now it’s more like two hours, ‘cause I have more knowledge now, so I don’t have to work this hard, but I constantly watch videos, correcting everything I can. I watch video of other krumpers to see what everybody understands and what everybody’s doing. I take risks, I read a lot and I train mentally first, ‘cause in order to do Krump you have to have a strong mentality. So I look to my inspirations, like Michael Jackson, James Brown, Sammy Davies Jr. and my mom.

This summer you’ll be at The Week, there will be the chance to know more about krump. What do you expect from this kind of path?
Anytime people understands krump it’s better, the feel is good, the energy is good, but when there is a lot of krump something crazy happens, so I believe somebody is gonna be changed, somebody’s life’s gonna change by freestyle sessions, the workshops, because krump comes from a lot of different things, life things, so.. I expect this. It happens everytime.
